We just got out of our Tuesday devotional, and Elder Holland spoke! I want to share some highlights. First, before the meeting I felt sick - my stomach was hurting really bad. But, I prayed that I'd have the strength to endure, or if possible, to be healed. Then, when Elder Holland started speaking, immediately my stomach pain went away - and I've felt fine since! The talk was SO good, I could fill pages with cool things I learned, but here's some things (one liners and other thoughts)that I thought were awesome:
*Preach My Gospel BY THE SPIRIT (the rest of the scripture).
*There are 3 things missionaries don't do very well - 1)study (especially as companionships), 2) plan, and 3) teach with power and authority. Going along with the authority, I've been commisioned by Christ; I have a right to be in peoples' homes teaching the gospel.
*We need the performance of a lifetime every time (you teach).
*Hunt for the Gadianton Robbers (the most difficult investigators).
*It's hard (a mission) because salvation is not a cheap experience.
*We all are disciples of Christ, and it wasn't easy for Him, why should it be different for us?
*The road to salvation always goes through Gethsamane."
*It (the mission) will take the best you've got for as long as you can give it.
